The establishment of the non-profit organization Homaar did not come out of nowhere. The story began in 2015 at a kitchen table where some colleagues from child and youth psychiatry were sitting, dreaming out loud about a new project.
They saw that young people did not always receive the appropriate support within the existing care system and wanted something truly tailored to their needs. What about the gap between outpatient therapy and often long-term residential admissions in psychiatry?
The non-profit organization Homaar aims to provide a smooth transition between directly accessible and more specialized care with short-term guidance. Homaar is a growth place for young people aged 15 to 23 where they can relax in a safe, homely environment.
In short-term programs of 2 weeks (9-16h), the Homaar team works with a maximum of 6 young people. Homaar has been active in Wetteren and Boechout for several years, and in 2024 a location was also established in Tienen. The proceeds from the Disco Dance Party will go entirely to the further development of the Tienen branch of Homaar.
De opstart van de vzw Homaar kwam niet zomaar uit de lucht vallen. Het verhaal begon in 2015 aan een keukentafel waarrond enkele collega’s uit de kinder- en jeugdpsychiatrie zaten, luidop dromend van een nieuw project.
Ze zagen dat jongeren niet altijd het gepaste aanbod kregen binnen de bestaande hulpverlening en wilden iets écht op hun maat. Want wat met het hiaat tussen ambulante therapie en de vaak langdurige residentiële opnames in de psychiatrie?
De vzw Homaar wil met een kortdurende begeleiding een soepele overgang bieden tussen de rechtstreeks toegankelijke en de meer gespecialiseerde hulp. Homaar is een groeiplek voor jongeren van 15 tot 23 jaar waar ze tot rust kunnen komen in een veilige, huiselijke omgeving.
In kortdurende trajecten van 2 weken (9-16u) gaan het team van Homaar met max. 6 jongeren aan de slag. Homaar is reeds enkele jaren actief in Wetteren en Boechout, en in 2024 werd ook een locatie in Tienen uit de grond gestampt. De opbrengsten van de Disco Dance Party vloeien integraal naar de verdere uitbouw van de Tiense vestiging van Homaar.

Ils ont constaté que les jeunes ne recevaient pas toujours le soutien approprié dans le système de soins existant et voulaient quelque chose de vraiment adapté à leurs besoins. Qu’en est-il du fossé entre la thérapie ambulatoire et les admissions résidentielles souvent de longue durée en psychiatrie?
L’association sans but lucratif Homaar vise à assurer une transition en douceur entre les soins directement accessibles et les soins plus spécialisés avec un accompagnement de courte durée. Homaar est un lieu de croissance pour les jeunes de 15 à 23 ans où ils peuvent se détendre dans un environnement sûr et familial.
Dans des programmes de courte durée de 2 semaines (9h-16h), l’équipe de Homaar travaille avec un maximum de 6 jeunes. Homaar est actif à Wetteren et Boechout depuis plusieurs années, et en 2024, un site a également été établi à Tienen. Les recettes de la Disco Dance Party seront entièrement consacrées au développement de la branche de Tienen de Homaar.
